Longer term risks and in vitro fertilization
- Pregnancy and child birth
Obstetric problems such as blood pressure, bleeding from the placenta (ante partum haemorhage), low birth weight, and premature birth are higher in in vitro fertilization pregnancies. The risks are higher for women over 40 years, and when using donor eggs, and not so high when using frozen embryos. You should take this into account when choosing a doctor or midwife for pregnancy care.
