The WHIM syndrome is a condition characterized by severe warts, hypogammaglobulinemia, and neutropenia. This is the first example of an immunodeficiency caused by aberrant chemokine-receptor function. WHIM syndrome is caused by a mutation in the gene encoding  the CXCR 4 chemokine receptor shows enhanced responsiveness to its ligand.
