Immune 1

 

Each precursor is cleaved into two or more components, and the major fragment (designated “b”) has two biologically active sites. One is for binding to cell membranes and the other is for enzymatic cleavage of the next component. The control of the sequence relies on either spontaneous decay or specific inactivation of these components. Minor fragments play a role in the fluid phase, acting as chemotactins.
